Tuff Torq wins Environmental Award
The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry Host the 33rd Annual Environment & Energy Awards Dinner
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosted its 34th annual Environment & Energy Awards Dinner on October 25th at the Montgomery Bell State Park Conference Center. Tuff Torq Corporation was excited to be one of the recipients of an environmental award at this year’s event. The event drew in approximately 100 plus attendees including business and industry leaders from across the state as well as representatives from Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and Region IV of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Along with Bob Martineau, Commissioner of TDEC, the Tennessee Chamber recognized seven companies for their environmental performance and outstanding energy management efforts. The awards were organized by category: Water Quality, Air Quality, Solid & Hazardous Waste Management, Environmental Excellence, and Energy Excellence. Recipients were chosen based on their efforts to go beyond compliance to implement sustainable environmental improvements including;
- the capital investment dedicated to the improvement
- reduction of consumption/releases of energy, water, fuel and/or emissions
- degree of innovation
- long-term environmental benefits
- overall significance of the achievement.
Also, awarded was the Chamber’s Inaugural Lifetime Excellence Award to an individual who has demonstrated commitment, leadership and outstanding achievements in the areas of environment and energy for the regulated community, throughout their career.
“The Tennessee Chamber is honored to recognize these Tennessee businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement toward environmental protection and enhancement as well as proactive and innovative energy policies” said Amy G Martin, Associate Vice President of Environment and Energy for the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry. “We are also pleased to honor Wayne Scharber as the inaugural winner of the Chamber’s Lifetime Excellence Award in recognition of his exemplary career in representing Tennessee industry while protecting the state’s natural resources”.
