K72 trans on a JD x590 what oil should I be using with 400 hours on it

      Hello,
Oil for the K72 has two choices that I can recommend. Either the John Deere oil, J20D, or our own Tuff Tech oil. Part number for Tuff Tech is 187Q0899000 for a 3 liter bottle and you will need two of them.

I have a 2015 Simplicity tractor with a K72h unit. Is there only one fill spot for both chambers?

    • ggraham says:

      Hello,
For the K72; both chambers, gear and hydro, do connect under the sealing cap. Filling the external reservoir will technically fill both chambers. However, it can take a while to get the fluid to flow past the magnet, especially if it is cool and the oil is thick. You may be better off popping the sealing cap and pouring the oil directly into the gear chamber. that would be the faster way. to get the gear chamber full.
