Tuff Torq Produces 15 Millionth Transmission

TUFF TORQ Produces 15 Millionth Transmission and Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Morristown, Tennessee – Founded in 1989 by Dr. Kojiro Yamaoka, and established in Morristown, Tennessee, the TUFF TORQ brand has served the outdoor power equipment industry for the last 30 years.

What began as a single production line building 2-speed and 5-speed transmissions for John Deere walk behind lawn mowers has evolved into a multi-line, state of the art operation producing integrated hydrostatic transaxles, zero-turn transmissions, and recreational off-road vehicle differentials for many customers all over the world.

Built on the foundation of combining Japanese engineering with American production, Tuff Torq has earned its reputation as a premier global manufacturer and industry-leader by producing innovative, high-quality products that are tailored to the unique needs of their clients. In addition to production, Tuff Torq’s capabilities include a robust machining department, full-service test capabilities, and an automated storage and retrieval system known as ASRS that optimizes inventory management and increases efficiency.

On April 8, 2019, TUFF TORQ achieved the significant milestone of having produced 15 million drivetrain products.

Having taken 10 years from 1989 to 1999 to produce the first million, the company now produces over a million every year, making this an extemely meaningful milestone.

When asked about the significance of this milestone, Keith Andrews, VP of Product Development, had the following to say, “what amazes me most about our growth is that even though we just produced our 15 millionth transmission, we have managed to retain our small company feel, team mentality, and camaraderie that began all those years ago. This is what truly makes this company a very special place to work. It took us 30 years to reach 15 million transmissions and based on our projected planning, we could reach 30 million by 2030. That is only 10 years away!”

With nearly 500 employees, a 250,000 square foot world-class manufacturing facility, and a passion to collaborate with customers, Tuff Torq is now stronger than ever.

I have been using Hydro House in Wisconsin for the last 3 years. They always recommend Tuff Torq products to me. They have rebuilt several k46’s and k66’s for the Simplicity Dealership that i work for. They have always went above and beyond to remedy any Hydrostatic issues we have. I have recommend them several times to customers and they seem very satisfied. They also have a mail in program. 6O8.212.OO22 is the best way to contact them.

Hello i have a husqvarna YT48DXLSYT48DXLS i believe it has the tuff torq K46 CR (501051401) locking differential. The tranny has started acting up making a noise like power steering in a car when its low on fluid. Whines. Especially when reversing. Reverse is also weak when on any sort of hill. Before i order a new transmission i wanted advise as to whether my problem could be something more simple. Please help. Any assistance given in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

how much is your k66 for a John Deere D140 tractor, and is there instructions on how to change these transmissions. Thank you

      Hello,
I am sorry but we do not have a K66 for the D140. There is a company , however, that has a K66 upgrade kit. It is not affiliated with Tuff Torq but they do buy the transaxles from us. You should go to their website here>>> https://www.rjrtractor.com/. That should help you find what you are looking for.
